Motherhood, the toughest job in the whole wide world, and it goes on around the clock. Whether you’re a working mother, or a stay-at-home mother, or a little bit of both. Day and night, you give your all to being the best mother you can be. They say the job of a mother is the most rewarding one, but they never tell you that it is also the most exhausting.

This Mother’s day, why not give yourself a much needed, long overdue, Mommy’s day off? No stressing over food, laundry, work, cleaning, or diaper changing. Today is YOUR day.

Here are a few ways you can treat yourself to 24 hours of uninterrupted me-time while you’re social distancing/during a lockdown:

  1. Fancy Feast:

Treating yourself sounds incomplete without a full-blown meal. As a mom, you barely get the time to savour your food, let alone eat what you really wish to eat. So today, why not take advantage of the occasion and get some scrumptious food delivered to your home and treat yourself to a fancy feast? Be it fast food, or some lasagna, or even just a giant box of donuts.

  1. Go on a shopping spree:

Does your wardrobe need an upgrade? Do you have your eyes set on a marvellous piece of jewellery? Longing to buy a nice pair of heels? Now’s the time. So what if you can’t hit the mall? Browse the web and start ticking off the items in your wishlist that have been waiting to be bought.

  1. Time for some chick flicks:

What’s me-time without a binge session of some classic chick flicks? Call up your BFFs, grab yourself a soda and some popcorn, put on that love story with a happily-ever-after ending, and let the watch party begin!

  1. Indulge in your favourite pastimes:

Do you have a bunch of books you’ve been waiting to get back to reading? Are you fond of painting but are never able to find the time to do it? Wait no more. Today’s the day. Bring out the watercolours and the canvas, get back to reading that detective novel till you’ve discovered who the culprit is. Do what makes you happy.

  1. Catch up on your sleep:

The one thing you miss out on the most as a mother is sleep. With the gift of time on your hands on this special day, you finally have the perfect opportunity to catch up on your sleep. Today, you can turn off all the alarms and sleep to your heart’s content with less worry on your mind.

Your family loves and appreciates everything you do for them. So, this Mother’s day, let them take care of you by allowing you a day off, a day of self-care and relaxation. Whether it’s a full morning of sleep, 24 hours of doing absolutely nothing, catching up with your besties, or eating a tub of ice cream, today is the day you let loose and do whatever helps you relieve your stress.
